Speech-language therapy, in nature, just works better for your child.

A kid in nature, with peers, learns faster, has more fun, and develops their best communication skills without even realizing it.

During your child's week at camp, they will...

  • Communicate their needs, wants, ideas, opinions, stories and observations. Expressing themselves with language reduces the need to communicate with behaviour (tantrums and hitting, I’m lookin’ at you).

  • Better understand you, their siblings, their peers, their teachers and other communication partners better. Understanding others’ language leads to less confusion and a sense of mental and emotional safety

  • Want to come to group nature-based speech therapy camp – not fight you. They will build communication skills while growing friendships, creating memories, and igniting environmental interest.

  • Be safer. They will have the communication tools to understand safety information and report unsafe situations to trusted adults. This includes unsafe physical and emotional situations.

  • Practice social communication skills in a real-life setting with peers. Your child will participate in small groups of other children with support from Rebecca Wong Kai Pun, regulated SLP. They will practice their communication skills in a setting that mirrors “real-life” communication rather than a sterile clinical setting.

Is this camp a good fit for my child?

This day camp is for kids ages 4-10 who need support with their communication in social settings. We’re equipped to support children who are toileting independently and have independent mobility in an outdoor space.

Each week at camp we’ll have a group of 9 children supported by 3-4 adults.

When and Where?

Camp will run for two sessions:

  • July 10-14 – Ages 7-10 WAITLIST ONLY

  • July 17-21 – Ages 4-6 WAITLIST ONLY

Camp will run from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Camp will be held at Blue Dot Acres, a small-scale farm and learning centre in north Burlington.

What can your child expect?

Our camp goal: Building communication confidence in social settings through nature-based play and exploration!

  • Support communication confidence in a group setting

  • Develop social communication skills

  • Engage in sensory play

  • Ignite environmental interest

  • Create memories and have fun!

This is an outdoor, nature-based camp and we ask that your child dress according to the weather (rain boots, splash pants, hats, sunscreen etc). Your child will likely be very dirty and happy when you pick them up! We have an indoor space we can use if inclement weather keeps us inside so camp runs rain or shine.

Registration and Payment Information

Fee per week: $465

A deposit of 20% of the full camp fee is required to hold your child’s spot at camp. The payment will be processed using a credit card that you provide and will be put on your child’s file. The 80% balance will be processed on the first day of camp using the same credit card. A receipt for your extended health benefits will be provided each day of camp your child attends.  If your child does not attend a day a receipt for insurance will not be provided (we can’t – it’s considered fraud!).

Bloom Speech Language Therapy is not responsible for reimbursement decisions that your extended health insurance company and policy dictate. If you aren’t sure whether your policy covers “group speech-language therapy”, please reach out to them directly.
